Customer service

I finally spoke with someone on the hotel staff about the Norwescon parking problem. The angry message I sent off to the hotel actually got to their management, and they called to find out what had happened. It turns out that they'd actually made decent arrangements for parking and shuttles to other lots. There were supposed to be flyers out everywhere and the staff was all informed about the possibilities.

So it turns out that we got the worst front desk supervisor ever when we were trying to check in. The manager I spoke to was able to identify him immediately form my description and I got the feeling that he was going to get a serious talking to, particularly since we'd asked what our parking options were and he just sent us on our way to find some for ourselves. She wasn't very happy with him.

But she did all the right things. She made sure that we weren't charged for anything and offered free valet parking next year at the Con, or any time that we visit her hotel. She was very nice and actually sympathetic and kind of pissed at the fact that her staff had blown it. Overall, I'd have to say that she was extremely helpful. And if we go to the con next year and run into a problem with staff, we'll definitely be asking to see a supervisor immediately.

The sad part is that I still haven't heard anything from the con liason. Norwescon staff appears to suck worse than hotel staff.

That's pretty awesome about the hotel. I'm glad they responded in a positive way.

As for the con liasion. See what I meant? *sigh*

Yeah, I see what you mean. I'm tempted to write the chair to let them know about the response from the hotel without a corresponding note from the liason. Like they'd care. ;)
