Silly

On the way home yesterday I spotted a bumper sticker that said WWHRD? There was a guy with no neck in the image. It only took me a few seconds to recognize Henry Rollins, even though I haven't thought of him in years. I was then tried to explain him to my husband, who'd never heard of him. The best explanation I could come up with was a spoken word performer, very opinionated and outspoken. Like Andrew "Dice" Clay, but less of an offensive misogynist.

How would you describe HR to someone who'd never heard of him?

I always immediately association him first with Black Flag, which was my first association with him in highschool. So, I'd describe him first as the singer of an 80s hardcore punk band, who went on to do hardcore-punk-leaning and activist-oriented spoken word stuff.

I can't disassociate him from the 80s hardcore scene and, yeah, i'm not sure how i'd describe that to somehow who wasn't familiar with it.

I agree with the hardcore-punk-80's band as a starting point for talking about him. After that...it's up to smart phones and google to educate the uneducated.
