End of the season

I was out in the yard today, as it’s finally stopped raining for a bit, cleaning up a bit and doing some winter prep work. Taking stock of the veggie garden left me with a few remaining tomatillos that got picked, a sad looking cauliflower, and the butternut squash. It looks like this vine finally fell victim to the old snap we had last week. The snow on the mountains didn’t result in any real frost until last night, but that bit was enough to start killing off the leaves on the vine. There are still several of the squash growing and ripening on the vine though. Not sure how many will actually ripen enough to eat, but they’re finally starting to look good. Here’s to hoping they get at least one more full week before I have to find a cool place for them in the house.
