Then I went biking with my brother and Dad where I caught this stupid cold. We had lunch (yes there was food too) at the Golf Course and got good and lost on the way back. But boy, was it fun.
I’ve just finished reading Throwing the Elephant : Zen and the Art of Managing Up by Stanley Bing. This book was presented to me as a useful tool to help in my management career. Let me tell you right now that this book is not serious. That was the first mistake I made reading it, taking it seriously. It’s serious like Dilbert is serious; that is, it’s right on the money, but exaggerated enough to take the sting out. Anyway. Once I finally got past the helpful-but-only-by-being-sarcastic part, I laughed a lot. Managers are very much like elephants. I can’t wait to do my first quick battle where I rip my boss’ heart out and put it back after I get what I want so he can forget. Oh wait, I do that now. I guess I’m just ahead of my time.
