Last week on NPR there was a piece about textiles and their experiment in offshoring manufacturing. Toward the end, one of the owners was discussing the problems they had and why he'd moved his manufacturing back into the US: high turnover, low productivity, difficulty with managing from afar, that sort of thing. At the end of the piece I was left wondering if those involved in the current movement of the IT industry offshore were listening and if they'd learned anything. I doubt it though.

That's why I'm afraid. My job will be outsourced in a failed experiment because these guys can't take the time to learn from others.
