I've wished that spammers would die, but I never meant it literally.
Vardan Kushnir, notorious for sending spam to each and every citizen of Russia who appeared to have an e-mail, was found dead in his Moscow apartment on Sunday, Interfax reported Monday. He died after suffering repeated blows to the head.

The implication is that he was murdered for spamming, since he'd received death threats for spamming previously. Crazy, crazy people.

Sure, that's a possibility. There are certainly enough crazies (and the address is published enough) to make that a strong liklihood. I just thought it was amusing that that it was a foregone conclusion. I'd just give it a 50/50 chance of it being random.
